Suspect (Arrested):  Elvin Salvador Tinoco-Orosco, Hispanic male, 35 years of age

On Monday, October 16, 2023, at approximately 1:26 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) Officers responded to a call reporting an unresponsive man. Officers arrived at the scene and located the victim, Jader Francisco Tinoco-Salgado, with gunshot wounds. Tinoco-Salgado was pronounced dead a short time later.

Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Specialists responded to process the scene. A preliminary investigation revealed that Tinoco-Salgado argued with his cousin, Tinoco-Orosco. The argument escalated into Tinoco-Orosco shooting Tinoco-Salgado. Tinoco-Orosco was detained on scene and is now charged with 1st Degree Felony Murder.
