On Friday, October 6, 2023, at approximately 3:34 PM, Austin Police Department (APD) Officers responded to the 10100 block of Middle Fiskville Road after receiving multiple calls about a male being shot. When officers arrived, they found Curtis Caldwell suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services (ATCEMS) arrived on the scene and took Caldwell to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at 4:11 PM by Dr. Cardenas.

Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Specialists responded to process the scene. During the investigation, detectives discovered Caldwell attacked a man he knew, and that man shot him. No charges have been filed at this time.
