NOTICE OF COMPLAINT
March 31, 2023
ICMS #: 2023-0253
On March 28, 2023, the OPO received a phone complaint.
The complainant alleges: He was enjoying a taco at
when an officer
parked in the middle of a crosswalk in the middle of a busy intersection. The complainant
assumed it was official police business -- why else would the officer park in an intersection
like that? The officer went inside
and sat down to have a taco. The
complainant was a bit grumpy about the situation, SO he approached the officer and told
him people were walking around his cruiser because he parked in a crosswalk in the middle
of the intersection and asked if that seemed ok to him. The officer told the complainant he
was on Austin police business, and he had to be able to get back to his cruiser at a moment's
notice and he was well in his rights to park there. The officer was a bit of a jerk and felt
like he was above the law. APD Cruiser #
