Arrested: Dequincy Fields, Black male, 33-years-old
On December 11, 2022, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a shooting in the parking lot of a pawnshop at 2121 East Oltorf. Officers at the scene discovered several bullet casings and obtained video of the incident captured on surveillance cameras. The footage showed a black male exiting the passenger side of a black Mercedes while shooting an AR Pistol toward a group of people. No one was injured in this case.
Later that evening, APD officers responded to a shooting at the Food Stop at 2223 Burton Drive. At the scene, officers found one victim with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound in the upper left chest area. The victim was taken to a hospital to treat his injuries.
Details gathered by South Central Area Command patrol officers and the lead detective revealed Dequincy Fields as the suspect.
On February 3, 2023, APD Aggravated Assault Unit detectives secured two arrest warrants for Dequincy Fields. One for Deadly Conduct, a 3rd Degree Felony, and one for Aggravated Assault, a 1st Degree Felony. Fields was arrested by Aggravated Assault and Gang unit detectives, who worked together to conduct search warrants on his car and home.
Between the two warrants, the following items were seized:
- 2.16lbs of Marijuana
- 656.7 grams of powder cocaine
- 193.9 grams of crack cocaine
- 30.9 grams of alleged Alprazolam
- 113.6 grams of methamphetamine
- 628.6 grams of multicolored small pills of alleged fentanyl
- Approximately 100 vape pens with liquid substance inside
- $5,533.00
- 9mm pistol
- .357 revolver
- .40 caliber pistol
Fields was subsequently booked into Travis County Jail.
