NOTICE OF COMPLAINT
January 13, 2023
ICMS #: 2023-0030
On January 12, 2023, the OPO received a phone complaint.
The complainant alleges: The complainant is homeless and has been living in a homeless
camp for about 3 years. The people in the encampment were given a 72-hour notice to
vacate. Officer
told him not to touch anything and that he could only take his
backpack and bike. City workers allowed the complainant to move his things about 30
yards away from the area. The complainant left to find storage. When he returned,
everything he owned had been taken away. He was able to get storage, but all of his things
were thrown away in a 12-hour period leaving him with nothing. The complainant feels
he was not given enough time to move his things and he wants to know how to get them
back. There was no right in what Officer
did.
This notice of complaint is a request for Internal Affairs to initiate an investigation to
determine if the employee conduct is within compliance of APD policy, Civil Service
Rules, and Municipal Civil Service Rules.
