NOTICE OF COMPLAINT
April 8, 2022
ICMS #: 2022-0247
On April 5, 2022, the OPO received a phone complaint.
The complainant alleges: Officer
, a mental health officer, was very rude and
unprofessional. He made her feel very uncomfortable, and like she is a bad mother who is doing
everything wrong. He asked her where she was from because she has an accent. The complainant
felt like he was being racist. The complainant was trying to get mental health help for her daughter.
Officer
told her she doesn't know how to discipline her child and that she needs to hold
her down and beat her. When the complainant needed to go to work, Officer
said, "No,
you have to stay here." The caseworkers told the officer that it's ok for a mother to leave and come
back. The complainant explained that she had run out of resources to help her daughter and the
officer responded that she just doesn't know how to discipline her child.
This notice of complaint is a request for Internal Affairs to initiate an investigation to determine
if the employee conduct is within compliance of APD policy, Civil Service Rules, and Municipal
Civil Service Rules.
