On June 29, 2022, the OPO received an online complaint.
The complainant alleges: My husband was in a car accident on
of
An
18 wheeler merged into him and caused him to crash, resulting in injuries and a hospital
stay. The officer who interviewed my husband at the hospital expressed disbelief in my
husband"s statement and actively tried to lead him to say the accident was his fault. After
waiting weeks for the report, which delayed the insurance process, the report was finally
created and in it, the officer states that the 18 wheeler driver was not in the wrong and that
my husband merged into him. He also states there are no witnesses. If there are no
witnesses, why does he assume the driver of the giant truck in telling the truth? My
husband"s statement wasn"t even included in the report at all. This driver almost killed my
husband and this officer has the audacity to not only make excuses for him to my husband
lying in a hospital bed, but he tries to make my husband think it was his own fault and he
doesn"t even write down my husband"s version of events. I almost lost my husband and
this officer actively defended the driver who could"ve easily killed him and took his side
of the story. I and my husband would like to file a complaint against this officer and his
handling of this incident.

determine if the employee conduct is within compliance of APD policy, Civil Service
Rules, and Municipal Civil Service Rules.
