NOTICE OF COMPLAINT
August 5, 2022
ICMS #: 2022-0637
On August 2, 2022, the OPO received a phone complaint.
The complainant alleges: She got pulled over by APD officer who was about 5'8",
wearing sunglasses and a beard. The officer asked for her driving license and told her she
was going 65mph in a 50mph zone. She was making a U-turn and does not know how that
was possible. The officer asked for her driver's license and told her if her license came
back good he would only give her a warning. She explained she had never been pulled over
before and apologized for speeding. The officer wrote down the license information and
her current address in his notebook. He asked for her phone number, and she gave it to him,
and he also wrote that in his notebook. The following
she was talking to others and
found out from them that the officer did not need her phone number. She called 311 who
informed her that it did not sound right and gave her OPO's number to make a complaint.
This notice of complaint is a request for Internal Affairs to initiate an investigation to
determine if the employee conduct is within compliance of APD policy, Civil Service
Rules, and Municipal Civil Service Rules.
