On August 22, 2022, the OPO received an online complaint.
The complainant alleges:

I was driving up
towards my home on
I was stopped at a stop sign on
waiting to proceed forward. An APD officer told me to turn right. I said no, I needed
to go forward since I live on a one way street a block ahead. He told me I had to turn right
since I was blocking traffic. I told him I'm not blocking traffic, I'm at a stop sign, and this
is the only way for me to get to my home. He started yelling at me, telling me I had to turn
right and he didn't care if I had to circle the block. I told him I was waiting to move forward.
He continued yelling at me several more times, and I said I was not turning. He finally
walked away and another officer from APD approached. I explained the situation to her
and she allowed me to drive forward. Once I was able to get home and park my car, I
returned to ask the second officer for the original officer's name and badge number. She
told me his name is
I was shaking from the interaction, which
was completely inappropriate, and I asked the second officer for his information since
I
was too afraid to approach him. There were several people ahead of me at the intersection
who he did not harass for wanting to wait to drive forward, as well as other people at other
sides of the intersection who wanted to go in a different direction, and this was also allowed
without any harassment. While I do not wish to file charges, I would like an explanation
or an apology to avoid this situation from happening again.
This notice of complaint is a request for Internal Affairs to initiate an investigation to
determine if the employee conduct is within compliance of APD policy, Civil Service
Rules, and Municipal Civil Service Rules.
