NOTICE OF COMPLAINT
September 9, 2022
ICMS #: 2022-0766
On September 7, 2022, the OPO received a phone complaint.
The complainant alleges: She woke up to her dog barking and howling because the police
were shining lights thru her windows. Three police officers began beating on her door
screaming for her to open the door. They forced her outside and demanded to go into her
house. She told them she did not want them to go in. She told the officers it was just her
and her dog, "it is just us". The officer questioned "who is just us" and proceeded to go
into her apartment without her consent. The officers began searching her apartment without
a warrant. The officer detaining her told her they got a suspicious report saying someone
broke a window and they were just trying to find out who it was. She explained it was
clearly not her because none of her windows were touched or broken because she lives on
the 2nd floor. The police were in her bedroom forever and she does not know what they
were doing. Her dog soiled herself, pissed on her bed, and ran under her bed in fear. She
does not know if they hit or drew a gun on her dog because they would not let her in her
apartment. After they searched her apartment, they said it had to be the other building and
just ran away. One of the officers said he was sorry and then ran away. She feels beyond
violated. She kept telling the officers she was fine and by herself, but they would not listen.
She did not make the call for APD and the person they were looking for was not in her
building. She wants a copy of the phone call to prove APD had no reason to go into her
house without her consent.
This notice of complaint is a request for Internal Affairs to initiate an investigation to
determine if the employee conduct is within compliance of APD policy, Civil Service
Rules, and Municipal Civil Service Rules.
