NOTICE OF COMPLAINT
October 7, 2022
ICMS #: 2022-0895
On October 5, 2022, the OPO received a phone complaint.
The complainant alleges: She was having issues with her significant other, SO she called
911 because he took her car keys. He was drinking and would not give them back. She
called the dealership to get another key and they told her to call 911 because the car was
registered in her name. The complainant went outside to wait for the police. She continued
to try to get her keys because she did not want him to take the car. When the police arrived,
they spoke to her partner first. After speaking to her partner, the officer seemed agitated.
The complainant told the officer she wanted the car key because the car belonged to her.
The officer told her it was not going to be possible because her partner had to move his
stuff in the car. She asked the officer how he could let her partner have the car key because
he was drinking, and his brother was there to pick him up. The complainant stated the
officer let her partner leave with the keys even though she is the owner of the vehicle. She
called for help and instead the officer helped her partner.
This notice of complaint is a request for Internal Affairs to initiate an investigation to
determine if the employee conduct is within compliance of APD policy, Civil Service
Rules, and Municipal Civil Service Rules.
