CITY OF AUSTIN OFFICE OF NOTICE OF FORMAL POLICE OVERSIGHT COMPLAINT FOUNDED 1839 ICMS #: 2020-0920 June 12, 2020 Complaint: The Office of Police Oversight received an anonymous online complaint stating the following: "https:// YOUR police officers were firing rubber bullets at protestors and SEVERELY injured someone. In the video you see a group of people caring this poor individual to get medical attention and once again, YOUR police officers started firing MORE BULLETS. BECAUSE THE PROTESTORS WERE TRYING TO GET MEDICAL ATTENTION FOR Y O U R ACTIONS. This is disgusting. Everyone puts their hands up and yet you hear shots CONTINUED to be fired. All because they were trying to HELP SOMEONE. who were the cops trying to help in this scenario? This is DISGUSTING. Train your officers how to RESPONSIBLY protect people and teach them CRISIS INTERVENTION TACTICS. If social workers can do it without guns and bulletproof vests, your cops can do it too. TRAIN THEM BETTER. HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS. STOP ALLOWING THEM TO HURT/MURDER PEOPLE FOR NO REASON." The City of Austin is committed to compliance with the American Disabilities Act. Reasonable modifications and equal access to communications will be provided upon request.
