Deceased Suspect: Moises Pita-Rodriguez, Hispanic male, born 04/20/1985
On Monday, March 21, 2022, at approximately 3:56 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a check welfare call at 1000 block of Bodgers Dr. Upon arrival, APD officers entered the residence and discovered two individuals with obvious trauma in a bedroom. Both individuals were pronounced deceased at 4:51 P.M. by Dr. Escott.
Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Specialists responded to process the scene. Through investigation, homicide detectives are investigating this incident as a murder/suicide.
On March 22, 2022, The Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office conducted autopsies and determined the official manner of death for Carrie Rodriguez was gunshot wounds and cause of death as homicide. The official manner of death for Moises Pita-Rodriguez was gunshot wound and the manner of death as suicide.

This is being investigated as Austin's 18th homicide of 2022.
