The EC recently released a new case study from the Climate Mayors Electric Vehicle Purchasing Collaborative (the Collaborative). This case study examines the City of Austin, Texas, one of the 19 founding Collaborative fleets, in its mission to achieve a carbon-neutral fleet by 2020. With the help of the Collaborative direct factory ordering process, Austin has been able to realize an average savings of $1,300 per electric vehicle and has purchased more than 130 vehicles through the platform. More than 10% of the City’s 6,800 vehicles that have electric options available have been converted to electric, and the local transit agency aims to have a fully electric bus fleet by 2032.
