This Neighborhood Liaison works with all of the Asian-American communities, including but not limited to: Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Indian, Burmese, and Nepali. This liaison centers around community outreach, mainly focusing on educating the aforementioned communities about public safety, and the importance of overcoming the cultural stigma ingrained in many Asian nations when it comes to interacting with police. They attend community events, facilitate presentations and discussions with police officers to bridge the gap between Asian-American populations and law enforcement. Additionally, they collaborate with local Asian businesses, organizations, schools, and religious groups to plan future culturally specific programs and activities to further integrate the Asian-American populations within the Austin community.
