Pass the Torch provides participants with an opportunity to learn about the fire service and emergency medical services response in a safe, controlled, and educational environment during weekend sessions over an approximately four-month period. Participants engage in real fire service activities under the guidance of experienced Austin Fire Department (AFD) firefighters. The program is designed to provide participants with a preview of the Austin Fire Department Academy experience and increase awareness about career opportunities in fire service.
