The First Workers Day Laborer program provides services for the unhoused, migrant workers, re-entry, and individuals seeking day labor work, to be paid cash at the end of their negotiated work assignment. Are comprised of unhoused migrants recently released from incarceration. These individuals are hard-working men and women dedicated to supporting their families and being active contributors to life in our community.

Additionally, services offered are referrals to case management services, community nursing needs, access to food, rent assistance, utility assistance, and more through a partnership with Austin Public Health Neighborhood Center.

Re-entry clients are encouraged to take the four-week-long Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT) classes. This evidence-based curriculum focuses on positive behavior. The classes taught are Coping with Anger, Thinking for Good and Job Readiness.

Vendors can submit an online job request with the number of Day Laborers requested 24-48 hours before, and staff will fulfill the online submission. The request form is found at:

We will contact you with the worker's information and address. If the worker is required to provide their own transportation, a $20.00 minimum fuel fee is required. If you have any questions or concerns, please call us at 512-972-4100.
