UPDATE: APD Homicide Unit Detectives release video of a suspect in connection to Nathan Ockleberry's homicide.
The suspect is described as:
- Black or Hispanic male
- Late 20s to early 30s
- He was last seen wearing a white baseball cap and a dark hoodie

Deceased victim: Nathan Ockleberry, Black male, 11/09/2006
On Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at approximately 2:40 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to the call reporting shooting at 12636 Research Boulevard. Officers arrived and found two males in the parking lot with apparent gunshot wounds. One of these males, identified as Nathan Ockleberry, was pronounced deceased on scene at 3:01 a.m. The other injured male on scene was taken to a local hospital by Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services (ATCEMS). It was later found that a third male was shot and had non-life-threatening injuries.
Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Specialists responded to process the scene and interview witnesses. The investigation found that a large group of people met at this parking lot in multiple vehicles where a disturbance escalated into a shooting. The suspect shot and killed Ockleberry, then left the scene in a vehicle. The investigation is ongoing.
