Deceased: Nikolas Eugenio Martinez, Hispanic male, 03/21/1998
Suspect: Mithovar Antoine Jr., Black male, 22 years of age
On Friday, July 23, 2021, Austin 9-1-1 received a call from a victim who said he had been stabbed. The victim, later identified as Nikolas Eugenio Martinez, was able to drive a short distance to a convenience store in the 2000 block of S. IH 35, where several citizens attempted to assist him. Austin Police Department (APD) officers and Austin-Travis County EMS arrived on scene and located Mr. Martinez with a life-threatening stab wound. Despite life saving measures, he was pronounced deceased on the scene.
Homicide investigators and crime scene technicians responded to process the scene and interview witnesses. It was found Mr. Martinez had been stabbed by an unknown suspect, and then Mr. Martinez had been able to drive away and pull into the Conoco gas station.
On July 24, 2021, the Travis County Medical Examiner’s office conducted an autopsy. The cause of death was found to be stab wound of the neck and it was ruled a homicide.
On September 11, 2024, a First-Degree Murder warrant was issued for Mithovar Antoine Jr. On September 12, 2024, the APD Tactical Intelligence Unit and the U.S. Marshals Service Lone Star Fugitive Task Force located and arrested Antoine in Temple, Texas, on the murder warrant. He was booked into the Bell County Jail with a $150,000 bond and bonded out on September 16, 2024.
