On Monday, May 27, at approximately 11:38 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a two-vehicle crash at West Braker Lane and the Research Boulevard Northbound Service Road. The driver of an SUV was pronounced deceased on scene. The passengers of the SUV and driver of a sedan were all transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

This incident is being investigated as Austin's 32nd fatal crash of 2024, resulting in 33 fatalities for the year. On the date of this crash in 2023, 40 fatal crashes resulted in 40 fatalities.
