On Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at approximately 7:09 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to the intersection of West Parmer Lane and Ganymede Drive for a collision between a motorcycle and a motor vehicle. The motorcyclist, later identified as Draven Rains Avila, was pronounced deceased on scene. The driver of the motor vehicle remained on scene, was not impaired, and cooperated with the investigation.
 
This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 91st fatal crash of 2024, resulting in 97 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2023, 88 fatal crashes resulted in 91 fatalities.
