On Saturday, May 25, at approximately 3:22 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a crash between two-vehicles and a pedestrian in the 9500 block of the East US 290 Highway Eastbound Service Road. The unidentified pedestrian was attempting to cross the service road when they were struck by two vehicles. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene. Both drivers of the vehicles, a sedan and an SUV, remained on scene, were not impaired, were not injured, and are cooperating with the investigation.

This incident is being investigated as Austin's 30th fatal crash of 2024, resulting in 30 fatalities for the year. On the date of this crash in 2023, 37 fatal crashes resulted in 37 fatalities.
