On Sunday, December 29, 2024, at approximately 4:06 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a crash between a vehicle and a pedestrian the 8900 block of South IH 35 NB. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on the scene.  The vehicle left the scene without stopping.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 94th fatal crash of 2024, resulting in 101 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2023, 89 fatal crashes resulted in 92 fatalities.
