On March 31, 2025, at approximately 1:55 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) Officers responded to the 8800 block of N. Capitol of Texas Hwy NB for a single-vehicle crash. The driver was pronounced deceased on the scene. The passenger was transported to a local hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 21st fatal crash of 2025, resulting in 25 fatalities. This investigation is ongoing. On the date of this crash in 2024, 20 fatal crashes resulted in 20 deaths.
