On Monday, December 16, 2024, at approximately 6:29 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a collision between a motor vehicle and a pedestrian in the 8200 block of East Ben White Boulevard EB. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on the scene. The driver of the motor vehicle remained on scene, was uninjured, and is cooperating with the investigation.
 
This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 90th fatal crash of 2024, resulting in 96 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2023, 87 fatal crashes resulted in 90 fatalities.
