Suspect:  Andrew Lycan, White male, 37 years of age

On Sunday, September 29, 2024, at 9:11 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a crash involving three vehicles in the 7500 block of Burnet Road. An initial collision occurred between an SUV and a motorcycle, followed by a secondary collision between a pickup truck and the motorcycle. The motorcyclist was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The drivers of the SUV and the pickup truck remained on scene. The driver of the pickup truck, later identified as Andrew Lycan, was arrested for DWI.
 
This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 68 fatal crash of 2024, resulting in 73 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2023, 68 fatal crashes resulted in 71 fatalities.
