On Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at approximately 7:17 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a crash between a vehicle and a pedestrian in the 7300 block of W. Hwy 71. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene. The involved vehicle left the scene.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 63rd fatal crash of 2024, resulting in 68 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2023, 65 fatal crashes resulted in 68 fatalities.
