On Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at approximately 5:59 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a crash between a vehicle and a pedestrian in the 7200 block of South Congress Avenue. The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital and was later pronounced deceased.  

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 36th fatal crash of 2024, resulting in 37 fatalities for the year. On the date of this crash in 2023, 49 fatal crashes resulted in 49 fatalities.
