On Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at approximately 10:15 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a single vehicle collision in the 5600 block of south IH-35 SVRD NB. The driver, later identified as Emmanuel Bioko-Makoli, was pronounced deceased on the scene.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 71^st fatal crash of 2024, resulting in 76 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2023, 72 fatal crashes resulted in 75 fatalities.
