On Sunday, October 15, 2023, at approximately 1:40 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a crash between a pick-up truck and a sedan in the 3600 block of S IH 35 SB. The driver of the sedan was hit outside the vehicle and died on the scene. The pick-up truck driver was not injured, remained on scene, and cooperated with the investigation. 

This incident is being investigated as Austin's 72nd fatal crash of 2023, resulting in 75 fatalities for the year. On the date of this crash in 2022, 85 fatal crashes resulted in 87 deaths.
