On Thursday, August 29, 2024, at approximately 11:09 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a crash involving two vehicles in the 1500 block of North IH-35 NB. The driver of one of the vehicles was taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. The driver and passenger of the second vehicle were not injured and are cooperating with the investigation

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 59th fatal crash of 2024, resulting in 64 fatalities for the year. On the date of this crash in 2023, 63 fatal crashes resulted in 66 fatalities.
