On Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at approximately 7:28 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a crash between a vehicle and an unidentified pedestrian in the 12200 block of N MoPac Expressway SVRD SB. The unknown pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
 
This incident is being investigated as Austin's 73rd fatal crash of 2023, resulting in 76 fatalities for the year. On the date of this crash in 2022, 85 fatal crashes resulted in 87 deaths.
