Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, passenger traffic decreased in March 2020 by 52.1% compared to March 2019.
AUSTIN, TEXAS – Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, passenger traffic decreased in March 2020 by 52.1% compared to March 2019 with 700,655 passengers flying during the month.

Passenger Activity: Total passenger traffic for March 2020 was 700,655 down 52.1% compared to March 2019. March 2020 enplanements totaled 349,457, down 51.8%. Southwest Airlines passengers totaled 220,640, down 55.6%; American Airlines passengers totaled 130,012, down 52.2%; United Airlines passengers totaled 102,737, down 54.1%; Delta Air Lines passengers totaled 92,648, down 53.3%; Spirit Airlines passengers totaled 56,414, down 19.3%; JetBlue Airways passengers totaled 26,139, down 48.9%; Alaska Airlines passengers 24.156, down 52.6%; Frontier Airlines passengers totaled 26,343, down 40.8%; British Airways passengers totaled 5,145, down 67.2%; Lufthansa passengers totaled 2,246; Allegiant Air passengers totaled 6,844, down 67%; AeroMexico passengers totaled 2,319, down 25.1%; Air Canada passengers totaled 1,995, down 62.9%; Norwegian Air, passengers totaled 2,327, down 69.6%; Sun Country Airlines passengers totaled 372, up 11.4%; VivaAerobus passengers totaled 197; and Miami Air passengers totaled 121, down 81.4%.
March 2020 air cargo totaled 14,928,170 lbs., down 0.7% compared to March 2019. International air cargo totaled 1,229,778 lbs., down 25.7%. Federal Express carried 7,634,300 lbs., down 8.9% and United Parcel Service carried 2,701,091 lbs., down 13.1%.
Air Services transferred 797,539 lbs. of mail, down 8.7%; and 1,432,093 lbs. of belly freight, down 25.6%.
Aircraft Operations: General Aviation operations totaled 2,219, down 41.6%. Combined operations (including commercial and military) totaled 13,989, down 23%.

Passenger Activity: Total passenger traffic for January – March 2020 was 3,226,597 down 13%, compared to January – March 2019. January – March 2020 enplanements totaled 1,598,980, down 13%. Southwest Airlines passengers totaled 1,032,730, down 21.7%; American Airlines passengers totaled 612,411, down 16.5%; United Airlines passengers totaled 470,997, down 15.2%; Delta Air Lines passengers totaled 462,967, down 5.2%; Frontier Airlines passengers totaled 114,823, down 11.9%; Spirit Airlines passengers totaled 206,322, up 112%; Alaska Airlines passengers 117,280,down 12.8%; JetBlue Airways passengers totaled 119,897, down 9.7%; British Airways passengers totaled 29,217, down 24.2%; Allegiant Air passengers totaled 18,475, down 54.5%; Air Canada passengers totaled 10,317, down 27.2%; Lufthansa passengers totaled 15,883; Norwegian Air passengers totaled 3,474, down 54.6%; AeroMexico passengers totaled 9,915, up 15.3% ; Sun Country Airlines passengers totaled 643, down 57.8%; Swift Air passengers totaled 928, down 6.5%; VivaAerobus passengers totaled 197; and Miami Air passengers totaled 121, down 81.4%.
January – March 2020 air cargo totaled 44,602,729 lbs., up 1.9% compared to January – March 2019. International air cargo totaled 4,268,483 lbs., down 8.2%. Federal Express carried 22,211,882 lbs., down 7.2%; and United Parcel Service carried 8,219.323 lbs., down 7.2%.
Air Services transferred 2,830,680 lbs. of mail, up 4.3%; and 5,135,650 lbs. of belly freight, down 9.3%.
Aircraft Operations: General Aviation operations totaled 8,841 for January – March 2020, down 17.6%. Combined operations (including commercial and military) totaled 45,906, down 7.3%.
