This year's 2024 Fall ACL Music Festival was a successful event as all partner agencies began collaborating early in 2024 to ensure safety measures were in place. Law enforcement efforts focused on past issues such as thefts and overdoses, which were combatted with preparation and education. These combined efforts dramatically reduced the chances of festival-goers becoming victims.
During weekend one, APD arrested two individuals (one for Evading on Foot and the other for a Request to Apprehend), responded to 225 calls for service, and took 70 offense reports. A total of 44 theft from person reports were taken, and of those, 42 were for cell phones.
During weekend two, APD arrested one individual for Assault with Injury, responded to 148 calls for service, and took 55 offense reports. A total of 33 theft from person reports were taken, and of those, 23 were for cell phones.
These numbers are a drastic decrease from years past. We thank our partner agencies, our community and those attending the festival for working collaboratively to ensure the safety and well-being of festival-goers.
If you feel you may have been a victim, use APD’s online reporting site (ireportaustin.com) or call Austin 3-1-1 (non-emergency) to report a theft.
