Suspect (Arrested):  Juvenile male

On Sunday, March 30, 2025, at approximately 10:13 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to the 6400 block of Bradsher Drive for multiple calls reporting a shooting. When officers arrived on the scene, they located an unresponsive male with apparent gunshot wounds on the ground outside the residence. This male was later identified as Matthew Pichardo. Mr. Pichardo was pronounced deceased on scene at 10:34 p.m.  

Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Specialists responded to process the scene and interview witnesses. The investigation showed that Mr. Pichardo was shot by a juvenile male who fled the scene. The juvenile male turned himself in to Gardner Betts Juvenile Center within a few hours and was charged with the 1st Degree Murder of Matthew Pichardo.

This case is being investigated as Austin's 10th homicide of 2025.
