On October 4, 2024, at approximately 10:18 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a stabbing in the 6000 block of N IH 35 SVRD NB. Multiple callers reported that one man had stabbed another and that the suspect was leaving the scene. Officers arrived and found the victim on the ground bleeding with apparent stab wounds on multiple parts of his body. The victim was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased at 10:48 a.m.
Witnesses provided a physical description of the suspect, and arriving Officers located him walking on the northbound frontage road still holding a bloody knife. The suspect, identified as Todd Wimberly, had a significant amount of blood on him. Wimberly later became combative and was placed under arrest.
Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Specialists responded to process the scene and interview witnesses. The investigation showed Todd Wimberly had stabbed and killed the unidentified victim in the roadway, then walked away.
Wimberly is being booked into the Travis County jail and is charged with 1st Degree Murder.
