On Monday, February 26, 2024, at approximately 3:38 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a call of a vehicle parked in a field located in the 2900 block of South U.S. Highway 183 SB. Officers arrived on scene and located a vehicle just off the main highway in a field. Laying on the ground, outside the vehicle, officers located a male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The male, later identified as Rigoberto Castro-Momner, was pronounced deceased on scene at 3:54 a.m.
 
Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Specialists responded to process the scene. The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made at this time.

This case is being investigated as Austin's 11th homicide of 2024.
