On October 14, 2024, at approximately 7:18 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to the call that reported two people in the parking lot with gunshot wounds, not breathing. Officers and Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services (ATCEMS) arrived and located a male and female with apparent gunshot wounds inside a vehicle in the parking lot. The female was later identified as Francis Anseume-Corredor and the male as Bryan Flores Alvarez. Both were pronounced deceased on scene at 8 a.m.
Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Specialists responded to process the scene and interview witnesses.
Surveillance video from the complex showed a silver SUV consistent with that of Sherles Machado-Hernandez, the common-law husband of Francis Anseume-Corredo, arrive at 3:25 a.m. The suspect approached the victim's GMC and opened the passenger door. The investigation showed that Machado-Hernandez came to the apartment complex, shot Francis Anseume-Corredo and Bryan FLores-Alvarez, and fled in his silver Mitsubishi Outlander. It was also discovered that Francis Anseume-Corredo had three children, two of which were Machado-Hernandez’s. Various addresses were checked for Machado-Hernandez and the three children and when they could not be located, an Amber alert was issued. Shortly after the alert, the family of Machado called to report they had the children. Machado-Hernandez had dropped the three children with his brother, borrowed his Toyota and left. The Toyota was later observed pulling into an apartment complex at 1600 Wickersham Lane and the driver entered into another vehicle, a Kia Sorrento.
APD patrol officers, APD Air1, APD Metro-tac, the APD Violent Crimes Task Force, APD Tactical Intel, and the Department of Public Safety (DPS) jointly conducted a traffic stop on the Kia Sorrento in the 900 block of Fairfield Drive in north Austin. Machado-Hernandez was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Travis County Jail for Capital Murder.
