Deceased suspect: Lockwood, Joshua, White male, DOB 5-30-1971
On June 19, 2024, at approximately 1:03 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to Nature Unknown call, after a male caller stated “my wife is in the bedroom. I’m outside.” Officers arrived and located a White female, later identified as Suzanne Bailey, inside the residence with an apparent gunshot wound to the head. Austin-Travis County EMS (A/TCEMS) arrived and transported Ms. Bailey to Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas where she was later pronounced deceased at 9:10 a.m. Officers also located a male, later identified as Joshua Lockwood, in the backyard of the residence, with a gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced deceased on scene at 1:28 a.m.
Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Specialists responded to process the scene and interview witnesses. The investigation showed that Ms. Bailey had been shot by her husband, Mr. Lockwood, who then took his own life.

This case is being investigated as Austin's 26th homicide of 2024.
