The Austin Police Department (APD) has identified David Bryan Herrera as the deceased in the September 9 homicide on Cameron Rd.
Austin 9-1-1 received a shots fired call at the gas station located at 7701 Cameron Rd. APD officers and Austin-Travis County EMS arrived on scene and located a male subject with gunshot wounds in the parking lot. Despite life-saving measures, the male subject succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 5:39 p.m. by Dr. Abraham.
Homicide investigators and crime scene technicians responded to process the scene and interview witnesses. According to witnesses and video evidence, the decedent made a comment to the Black female driver of a Silver Acura SUV as she was leaving the store. There was a Black male sitting in the front passenger seat of the Acura as the female was walking back to the car. The Black male can be seen exiting the vehicle with a gun and shooting several times at the decedent. Both the female and the passenger got back into the SUV and left the scene. Witnesses have advised police that the driver and passenger are from the San Antonio area.
On September 10, 2021, the Travis County Medical Examiner’s office conducted an autopsy and ruled the cause of death as gunshot wounds. The manner, Homicide.
