Deceased: Leonardo Yanez-Flores, Hispanic male, born September 9, 1994
The Austin Police Department (APD) has identified the deceased in the September 12 homicide at 6th and Nueces streets as Leonard Yanez-Flores.
At approximately 2:26 a.m., Austin 9-1-1 received a call in reference to a person who was laying on the ground at 6th and Nueces streets and appeared to have been stabbed. APD officers and Austin-Travis County EMS responded to the scene and located the victim where passersby were attempting life saving measures. Austin-Travis County EMS transported Mr. Yanez-Flores to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. He was pronounced deceased at 2:59 a.m. by Dr. Weston.
Homicide investigators and crime scene technicians responded to process the scene and investigate the incident. It appears that the victim had been involved in an altercation with unknown suspects at a local bar near the area.
The Travis County Medical Examiner’s office conducted an autopsy and ruled the cause of death as a stab wound. The manner, Homicide.
This case is currently under investigation.
