Join the Austin Parks and Recreation Department for the Brownie Neighborhood Park Phase I Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Saturday, February 22 at 10 a.m. at 10000 Brownie Dr. This is an outdoor park event, so please dress comfortably.
Brownie Neighborhood Park is an approximately 7.8-acre park located in the North Lamar Neighborhood. In 2014, approximately 5 acres of additional parkland were acquired to expand the park.
New features include a picnic pavilion, a loop walking trail, solar security lighting, a new playground with a nature play area, and a new asphalt parking lot with ADA spaces and a turnaround. Boulders that were salvaged on site are used throughout park.
The design reflects the sensitivity to the nearby creek and provides green infrastructure opportunities in collaboration with Austin’s Watershed Protection Department. Special thanks to the North Lamar/Georgian Acres Neighborhood team.
This project was made possible by City Bond Funding from 2018 Parkland Improvements, Private Partner Funding via Austin Parks Foundation Board Designated Funds, an Urban Forestry Grant through the City's Development Services Department, and Parkland Dedication Funds.
