AUSTIN, Texas – Austin Public Health (APH) is resuming mpox (monkeypox) vaccine operations following a successful partnership with the Wellness Equity Alliance (WEA). WEA provided vaccines on behalf of the City to support expanded access during the last four months.
APH’s partnership with WEA saw a total of 4,329 doses administered to our community.
The success of vaccine efforts is evident through data: while 260 cases have been reported in Austin-Travis County since the start of this outbreak, only 14 new cases were reported in December. Three cases have been reported in January.
As the rate of new cases has dropped, vaccines are now being handled by APH staff.
APH’s Immunization Unit is providing both doses of the vaccine for anyone who is still in need and eligible. Call APH at 512-972-5520 to schedule your first or second mpox vaccination appointment.
The Jynneos mpox vaccine is also available through community providers. Find a list of local mpox vaccine providers.
Additional vaccine and general mpox information is available on APH’s mpox webpage.
