The Austin Police Department (APD) is requesting the public’s assistance with identifying a suspect in connection to a case of assault with injury that occurred in the 3500 block of Duval Street on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at approximately 9:57 a.m. 

The suspect, whose photo and description are included below, attacked a female bus rider unprovoked. The suspect punched the bus rider multiple times in the head and face while the rider was seated. The suspect exited the bus in the 3500 block of Duval Street. The suspect is believed to be a person experiencing homelessness, as he was in possession of several travel bags, a sleeping bag, a laundry bag, and other items consistent with someone who is camping at different locations.

The suspect is described as:  

• Black male
• Last seen wearing black hooded sweatshirt, black jeans, black tennis shoes
