The Austin Police Department (APD) Aggravated Assault Unit, is requesting the community’s help with an aggravated assault that occurred on January 3, 2023, at approximately 1:09 a.m.
APD Communications received multiple calls reporting a house party, shots fired, people running, and vehicles speeding away. Officers responded to the calls for service, and the first officer arrived on the scene within minutes.
Three victims were shot and found at various locations. Austin Travis-County EMS took two of the victims to local hospitals, and the third victim drove themselves to a local hospital. All three victims are currently in stable condition.
Throughout the initial investigation officers located multiple suspects on the scene. With the collaboration of patrol officers, violent crimes night detectives, Air One, and the Gang unit and five arrests were made on scene. Two subjects were later released at the request of the detectives working this investigation because it was determined probable cause did not exist to file deadly conduct charges. The investigative process takes time to complete, and the Department’s understanding of this incident may change as investigators continue to collect, analyze, and review additional evidence.
Judaren Forbes was charged with Deadly Conduct and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon. Osborne Forbes was charged with Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon. Ken Taye Carson was charged with Evading Arrest. All three men were taken to the Travis County Jail.
A total of nine firearms were seized during this investigation. Two of the recovered firearms were previously reported stolen.
