APD's Vehicular Homicide Unit is requesting the public's assistance in identifying a suspect vehicle in connection to fatal crash between a vehicle and a pedestrian that occurred on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at approximately 7:35 p.m. The incident happened in the 600 Block of W Ben White SVRD EB. The pedestrian, later identified as Angela Cantu, was transported to the hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased. The driver left the scene.
The suspect vehicle was exiting the 7-Eleven parking lot onto South 1st Street, turned north onto 1st Street and was then seen taking the Ben White SVRD east bound.

On Sunday, November 3, 2024, at approximately 7:35 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) Officers responded to a crash between a vehicle and a pedestrian in the 600 block of W Ben White SVRD EB. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene. The pedestrian, later identified as Angela Cantu, was transported to the hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.
This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 75th fatal crash of 2024, resulting in 80 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2023, 76 fatal crashes resulted in 79 fatalities.
