On Saturday, November 16, 2024, at approximately 5:25 p.m., Austin 9-1-1 received a call about a suspect with a knife threatening a man working in the area of Republic Square Park (422 Guadalupe Street). The caller described the suspect as a black male approximately six feet tall wearing a white shirt and black pants.
Austin Police Department (APD) officers arrived on scene, contacted and identified the victim. The victim had an obvious laceration along the left side of the face. The victim explained to APD officers that he was using a leaf blower which is a duty of his employment when he was attacked by a random person who left the area.
Investigators were able to determine the suspect boarded a Capital Metro Bus near the intersection of Oak Springs Drive and Ridgeline prior to arriving at the park, and subsequently assaulting the victim. Investigators were able to locate the following images of the suspect.
The suspect is described as:
- Black male
- 50 to 60 years of age
- Appears to walk with a limp.
- He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt with the text “We Never Give Up”, gray pants, and black shoes.
