On Saturday, December 16, 2023, at approximately 4:45 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) Officers responded to a report of shots fired at Barton Creek Mall located in the 2900 block of S. Capital of Texas Hwy Northbound. Officers arrived on scene and located one male subject with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
 
Preliminary details revealed that four males, two in each group, met up to complete a private party sale of merchandise that was being sold on a social media platform. The victim was part of one of the two parties and they did not know each other prior to this encounter. After the two parties met up, a physical fight ensued which escalated into the shooting. The suspects involved in the incident left the scene immediately after the shooting.
 
This was an isolated incident and there is no continued threat to the public. However, in light of this recent event, APD is coordinating directed patrols to be in the area more frequently.
