On Wednesday, March 5, 2025, the Austin Police Department (APD) held a news conference and provided a news release related to the ongoing efforts to address vehicle burglaries in the City of Austin Parks. At the time, Detectives reported that additional arrests and charges were pending. A copy of the news release regarding the previous arrests can be found here.

On Friday, March 7, 2025, APD officers with the North Metro Tactical Response Unit were working a proactive enforcement operation with APD Patrol Officers downtown.

At approximately 9:30 p.m., Officers conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle after observing it had a fraudulent temporary license plate. Officers identified the driver as Lonnie Burke and recognized the front passenger as Trayvon Swain, a known co-conspirator of the Austin City Parks vehicle burglaries. Officers were aware that there were active arrest warrants charging Swain with Debit or Credit Card Abuse and Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity.

Officers placed Swain under arrest for the warrants and found him to be in possession of a tool designed to break vehicle windows. Additionally, Officers located a black purse containing an Amazon gift card that they believe to be stolen.

Officers learned Burke had an expired driver’s license and he was arrested for Driving while License Invalid.

This continues to be a complex ongoing investigation with additional arrests anticipated. Further updates will be provided when available.
