Zilker Great Lawn - Fall Maintenance

For over 15 years, annual fall lawn maintenance occurs in the days following the peak summer and fall event seasons. During this time frame, the lawn is closed.

What is fall lawn maintenance? The period where aeration, irrigation and nutrient application occurs.

Weather & staff work pace allowing, the maintenance will occur:

• October 21 - November 1 (anticipated end date)
• Updates will be posted here NO EARLIER than October 29

Updates for key use areas:

Rugby Field (posted 10/25)

• aeration is complete and the space is open for day use. Limited patching may occur in the coming days but will not reclose the space.

Great Lawn (updated 10/31)

• Fall turf maintenance has been completed and the Zilker Park Great Lawn will reopen Wednesday.  Fence crews will begin removing fencing Wednesday (11/1) morning and work is expected to last a majority of the day. Please know water may be standing in some areas due to ongoing rain conditions.
• Parking available at the Stratford gravel parking lot off Stratford Dr. or the south side of Barton Springs Rd. at Zilker Park. Remember to use the crosswalks for safety.
• Limited patching will continue in the coming weeks and not cause Great Lawn closure.
• No total reclosure of the lawn will occur throughout the holiday season. Nightly road closures/traffic control during holidays event may affect drive in access at/after dark.
